Eating mushrooms instead of red meat helps with weight loss, a new study has claimed.
Swapping meat for mushrooms can help slimmers lose weight, research has claimed
Researchers working at the Weight Management Center at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health carried out a clinical trial in which obese adults ate a cup of mushrooms every day for a year instead of meat.

The average weight loss of those who swapped meat for mushrooms was seven pounds, which they managed to keep off. And at the end of the study, which was funded by the Mushroom Council, their body composition was better than the control group, in which people followed their usual diets.

The results showed that those who ate mushroom ate 123 fewer calories and 4.35 grams less of fat than those in the control group. They also lowered their body mass index (BMI) and lost an average of 2.6 inches from around their waists.

The study claims that swapping meat for mushrooms is a useful strategy for slimming as it is a way of feeling full and satisfied after a meal without consuming as much fat or as many calories.
