Perfume makers claim their latest scent can help you slim down by suppressing your appetite
But perfume makers bizarrely claim they've developed a new fragrance that can help you shed the pounds.
Manufacturers say the scent can help users slim down by suppressing
their appetite - and keep them smelling sweet thanks to its fresh citrus
notes.
The fragrance contains appetite-killing ingredients such as seaweed and so-called weight loss boosting herbs.
These ingredients supposedly help suppress the appetite, while improving the wearer's mood and boosting their metabolism.
While it might seem like a strange idea, the perfume isn't the first
of its kind. A French company called Velds launched a scent last year
which boasted a 'slimming complex' with caffeine, carnitine and
spirulina extract to help kickstart weight loss.
According to Velds, a study of non-dieting women aged 18-70 found
that three-quarters felt the perfume reduced their desire to snack - and
most of them enjoyed wearing it.
Perhaps unsurprisingly though, not everyone is impressed by this latest concept of sniffing yourself slim.
Jéan LK, a personal trainer at Timed-Fitness London, noted that
appetite suppressants in a pill form have been a popular weight loss
tool for years.
But he added: "Although stopping yourself feeling hungry and boosting
your metabolism would result in weight loss, the key to sustainable
weight loss is adopting a healthy life style through good nutrition and
exercise. Though the ingredients may have the effect of suppressing
hunger I don't think this is a viable solution."
